Launch of Solutions for Urbanised Future (SURF) training programme - the largest intake of Singaporean ICT talents under IDA's Company-Led Training Programme in support of Singapore’s Smart Nation initiatives by committing to recruit, mentor and train 100 Singaporean entrant-level professionals over two years.
Unveiled the NCS Technology Evolution book to commemorate Singapore’s IT transformation from the very beginning of its computerisation journey.
Launched SURF@NCS as part of the Solutions for Urbanised Future initiative. Using a three-pronged approach, NCS will set up a living lab for co-creation of smart city innovations, establish a vibrant technology partner eco-system and build a pipeline of talents driving smart city innovations to help realise Singapore’s vision as the world’s first Smart Nation.
Partnered Temasek Polytechnic (TP) to set up the first Smart Campus platform that leverages on a comprehensive, robust IT infrastructure and innovative technologies to improve the overall studying and working environment within TP.
Inked the Strategic Framework Agreement with Xiamen Municipal Bureau of Information Technology to develop Xiamen’s Smart City and establish a One-Stop Public Service Development Platform, followed by Smart Healthcare, Smart Education, Smart Community, Smart Transportation and other Public Services in Xiamen.
Established the first Centre of Excellence (CoE) with Airbus Defence and Space in Singapore to facilitate the research, development and the commercialisation of safe city solutions including data fusion and predictive analytics, video content analytics and crowd simulation to better support emergency services in Asia.
Won the Visionary Winner Award in the Navigation Application category at the 2012 Summit Emerging Media Awards in partnership with the Land Transport Authority (LTA).
Supported Singapore government agencies to transit from the current hosting environment known as the Service-Wide Hosting Environment (SHINE) platform to the new the private cloud infrastructure, G-cloud platform.
MyTransport.SG, NCS's mobile app for Land Transport Authority, has become the first in Asia Pacific to bag an award at the international Summit Emerging Media Award (EMA) 2012, clinching Visionary Winner Award in the Navigation Application Category. MyTransport.SG stood out for its uniqueness, visual design and creativity interaction design and functionality, and user experience, amongst other criteria.
NCS was the only Singaporean company to win Gold at the ASEAN ICT Awards 2012. NCS emerged champion in the public sector category with Immigration & Checkpoints Authority of Singapore's e-Visitor Programme. Since its implementation, over 1,500 visitors per day on average have utilised the e-services when visiting Singapore, bringing cost savings of over $1.2mn per year.
Won Silver in the international 2012 Summit Marketing Effectiveness Award for the MINDEF Fitness Challenge 2011 community event, which saw over 700 entries internationally. The effort is a landmark event which aimed to reposition NS Portal and commemorate the 10th Anniversary of the portal. The successful campaign consisted of a series of engagement programmes with a publicity campaign executed across multiple digital media and marketing channels, engaging over 1,000 participants.
Completed the transition phase for all 351 schools in the Schools Standard ICT Operating Environment (SSOE) project, which impacts over 500,000 students. Over 120,000 devices were rolled out to more than 40,000 principals, teachers and administrative staff, who were educated on the use of the new services and solutions under the programme.

Partnered with the Singapore Ministry of Education (MOE) and Google to proide Google Apps suite of online communications and collaboration tools to more than 30,000 teachers and staff in over 350 schools in Singapore. MOE is first in Asia to provide Web 2.0 communication and collaboration tools to all teachers in the public school system.
